My partner’s daughter has Down’s Syndrome, I’m conscious that one of these old computers would be completely impenetrable for her but she can operate my ipad very easily to find games, music and photos. I’m glad we now have technology that lets her be included even if she can’t figure out how to get her shoes on the right feet.

    1. It’s very funny isn’t it? Particularly the declaration about going to the library.

That’s a really interesting perspective on technology which I hadn’t really thought about. My closest friend’s little daughter has Down’s too: she’s only 15 months old and hasn’t yet tackled the iPad. Her older sister was able to double click and use the home button really early – I think at about a year. It’ll be interesting to see how she progresses. How old is your partner’s daughter?

  2. Hi Helen,

Amber is 9 and seems to get a lot of good learning from the ipad, luckily she really enjoys the language games you can get. If your friend’s daughter ends up with delayed speech then the ipad can also make a great communication tool. The app I use most with Amber is Splingo. Her own favourites are photos, itunes and Frozen.

    1. Hi Velda,

Thank you. Splingo looks excellent. I’m seeing my friend Sue tomorrow and will be sure to recommend this for Flo.
